Anyone who has been whaling in the Faroe Islands knows it can be rough conditions with a lot of nature, but the people are mostly calm and balanced. – It is a bit surprising that the archipelago, which has a population of 54,000 people, has its own football league with clubs that knife hard and who park their coaches when things are not going well.
Klaksvik, who can’t stand losing to Vikingur, has taken the consequence of a bad season and fired former Sandefjord and Östersunds FK coach Magnus Powell and his assistant Thomas Gabrielsson. (- The league is called Premier League, by the way)

Faroese KÍ Klaksvík reports that Swedish Magnus Powell (51) has been fired. Assistant coach Thomas Gabrielsson (45) also has to leave the club.

Klaksvík missed out on European games and are “only” second in the league. Yesterday, Sunday, there was also a final loss against Víkingur in the cup.
“The season has not lived up to expectations,” the club writes in a statement.
Powell took over Klaksvík before the 2025 season and had a contract until the end of the year. He has previously been with Östersunds FK and Sandefjord, among others.
