Former Manchester United star Ashley Young summed it up well during the London derby between Arsenal and Chelsea on Sunday, but only managed to catch half the description of Martin Ødegaard’s capacity on the match ground. The BBC’s Chris Sutton believes Ødegaard and Arsenal will be almost unstoppable: “They are a powerhouse! Chelsea are a good team, but Arsenal always find a way to win. Can you stop Arsenal? I don’t think anyone can.”
First, to the BBC’s coverage of Arsenal’s troubled transfer window in relation to deliveries in the Premier League: “Arsenal spent almost £200 million on new players during the summer transfer window but failed to secure the elite striker they longed for. Former Manchester City goalscorer Julian Alvarez was on their radar but remains at Atletico Madrid, while the Gunners were also interested in Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers, Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola and Vinicius Jr.”

“Rogers chose London rivals Chelsea, Barcola moved to Liverpool and Vinicius Jr. has remained at Real Madrid. Yet reigning champions Arsenal have started this season as strong as they ended 2025-26, when they celebrated their first Premier League title in 22 years.”
Ashley Young believes Ødegaard’s form will be key for Arsenal this season.
“He’s just a joy to watch. He’s exciting when he gets the ball, he lets other players get the ball,” Young said on BBC Sport during the match. Then it also came from Ødegaard with the match-winning 2-1 score, the captain does so much more than “let other players get the ball”.
