In the summer of 2023, Vålerenga sold Norwegian midfielder Odin Thiago Holm to Celtic for €3 million. Now the 21-year-old is loaned to Los Angeles FC until 2025.
In California, Holm will be teammates with the French world champions goalkeeper Hugo Lloris and striker Olivier Giroud.
There is little playing time with the current leaders and reigning champions of the Scottish Premier League that is the reason for the loan deal. Holm helped win the league title and the Cup in the 2023-24 season. Holm made 13 appearances for the Hoops last season, scoring in the Scottish Cup, and faced Feyenoord and Atlético Madrid in the Champions League group stage. Holm only appeared in three league games in 2024.
The MLS club announced the loan deal on their website on Monday evening.
Thiago Holm was sold from Vålerenga to Celtic in the summer of 2023, but has struggled for playing time at the Scottish big club.
Last season, the midfielder made 13 appearances for Celtic and scored one goal. This season, there have only been three games for the Glasgow team.
The 21-year-old will spend the whole of 2025 on loan at Los Angeles FC. The American league starts in February.
Former Premier League players Hugo Lloris and Olivier Giroud are among Thiago Holm’s new teammates on the west coast of the United States.
