Alan Shearer could hardly believe it when rumours swirled that Harry Kane, his biggest challenger to the all-time highest-scoring Premier League player, was about to make his way to the Bundesliga. What was Harry doing?! Securing a Ballon d’Or title, of course.
Two Bundesliga titles. German Cup title. German Supercup title. European Golden Shoe award – and now Monday also the Golden Boot. From no titles in the Premier League until 2023, to the top of the throne as the world’s best player in 2026. Harry Kane knew what was the best step forward.

For Bayern Munich, this was a historic award. For Kane became the first Bayern Munich player to win the prestigious award since Karl-Heinz Rummenigge in 1981.
“This is a proud day for FC Bayern. Harry Kane can do it all – and he scores goals, goals and more goals. He now joins Franz Beckenbauer, Gerd Müller and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge – it says everything about our history,” FC Bayern president Herbert Hainer begins in a statement.
“The club and Harry Kane have come together, grown together and achieved the highest goals together. We are proud that this versatile outstanding sportsman and person is part of our FC Bayern family. Harry Kane carries his teams. Congratulations to all our other nominees: to our women’s and men’s players as well as to Vincent Kompany!” Bayern boss Jan-Christian Dreesen also praised Kane’s achievements, highlighting the importance of a player from a German club winning football’s most prestigious individual award, the Bayern president boasted.
A worthy winner!
