England captain Harry Kane is currently busy with the World Cup, but behind the scenes he has made a choice about his club career.
England face Ghana at Gillette Stadium on Tuesday.
Harry Kane has reportedly decided on his future at Bayern Munich – despite the fact that he has been linked with transfers to both Manchester United and Barcelona in recent weeks. – There is also talk of a return to Tottenham at the end of his career. Can we envisage a future Tottenham manager in Kane?

Kane is now in the United States with England, where his two goals ensured a 4-2 win over Croatia in the Group L opener on June 17. Now the captain is preparing for the match against Ghana on June 23 – where another win could potentially secure advancement to the round of 32, if Panama does not beat Croatia.
And while he is no doubt focused on winning England’s first major trophy since 1966, Kane is said to have made a decision that will affect his club career going forward.
Since his transfer from Tottenham in 2023, the striker has delivered the goods in Germany. With 146 goals in 147 games, he has led Bayern to two straight Bundesliga titles and a national double last season.
Still rumors about the future
However, the speculation surrounding Kane has not subsided. Previous reports from Mundo Deportivo have linked the goalkeeper to a surprise move to Barcelona.
“The club remains determined to bring in a world-class striker,” the media wrote in May. “If necessary, they will lower the requirements, but only if it becomes impossible to sign any of the three preferred goals.”
Kane, who has a contract with Bayern until 2027, has also been linked with Manchester United, with co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe reportedly being a big admirer of the Englishman.
Earlier in June, the German channel Kicker reported that there was “disagreement over the terms of a new contract” during the negotiations. The media also did not rule out the possibility of lucrative offers after the World Cup.
Bayern want extension – Kane open
Florian Plettenberg in Sky Germany with an update. Bayern are very interested in Kane staying in Germany beyond the current deal:
“After initial talks about a new contract, FC Bayern and Harry Kane have agreed to focus fully on the World Cup for the time being. Concrete negotiations will start after the tournament. The idea of a new agreement until 2029 is on the table. The chances of an extension are currently considered very good. Kane is not in talks with any other club and is still very open to extending with Bayern.”
Kane previously had a buyout clause of €65 million (£55.3 million), but it expired in January.
What has Kane himself said?
He has previously hinted at a return to the Premier League, but in October 2025 he made a U-turn:
“When it comes to staying longer, I can certainly see that,” Kane said. “I haven’t had those talks with Bayern yet, but if they were to arise, I would be willing to speak honestly. Of course, it depends on how the next year or so goes—and what we accomplish together. Right now, we’re in a fantastic period, and I’m not thinking about anything else.”
On a return to England:
“When I went to Bayern, I would definitely say that I would come back. Now that I’ve been there for a couple of years, I would probably say that the desire has become a little less. But I wouldn’t say I would never go back.”
