Real Madrid ruined Barcelona’s plan – now they want to repeat the formula
Real Madrid have reportedly put Tottenham’s Pedro Porro on the transfer schedule for the summer of 2027 – the same type of player Barcelona have been chasing for a long time.
Tottenham’s 27-year-old right-back Pedro Porro is on FC Barcelona’s radar, but it seems Florentino Pérez has also put him on Real Madrid’s transfer schedule for the summer of 2027. Joan Laporta wants to bring him to Barça, but the White club are also interested in his situation. Tottenham could demand over €60 million to negotiate a sale.

The Spanish international renewed his contract in June 2026 until 2031, with the option of an extra season. The extension puts Tottenham in a favorable position in negotiations with the two LaLiga giants.
A goal shared between Barcelona and Real Madrid
FC Barcelona has been following Pedro Porro for months. Laporta sees the defender as an option to strengthen the right-back, and Deco had already examined his situation during the last summer transfer window.
Barça’s interest now coincides with that of Real Madrid, who are also looking for solutions in the same position. José Mourinho has not gained the expected stability with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Denzel Dumfries – two additions who have not yet solved the team’s defensive needs. The situation has led the Portuguese coach to use Fede Valverde at right-back in some matches, with the Uruguayan having to leave his usual midfield position.
Porro thus appears to be the option for both clubs – a specialist in the position. The Spaniard made 47 official appearances in the 2025/26 season for the London side and became the player with the most appearances in the squad.
Tottenham demand over €60 million
The main obstacle to a transfer will be Tottenham. The English club renewed his contract on June 14 and does not plan to facilitate a mid-season sale. The price tag stands at over €60 million – an amount that would force both Barça and Madrid to make a significant investment to bolster the right-back.
In addition, Roberto De Zerbi considers the Spaniard part of his sporting plans. The Italian coach was involved in the decision to extend his contract, after Porro has made 152 appearances for Tottenham since arriving in 2023.
His international experience also counts. The full-back was part of the Spanish team that won the 2026 World Cup, and he still has a desire to return to Spanish football one day.
The summer of 2027 will be the battle for the signature
The player spoke about his future at El Larguero and admitted that he wants to return to Spain – although he also explained that no Spanish club had directly put forward a proposal to sign him.
The extension to 2031 means that Tottenham are in no hurry to sell. A final operation will therefore depend on one of the interested parties putting forward a proposal that meets the financial requirements of the English club.
The next move will belong to Real Madrid and FC Barcelona. Both will have to decide before the 2027 summer market whether to turn their pursuit of Pedro Porro into an offer that could exceed €60 million.
