All of Germany sat speechless and watched one attempt to win the round of 16, after another, be thwarted by Paraguay’s highly disciplined defensive wall. It went to 1-1 and a penalty shootout. Then one of the world’s biggest football nations was once again out of a championship, so far too soon. It didn’t take many minutes after Germany’s exit, before Jürgen Klopp was asked about the job as German national team coach.
Julian Nagelsmann has been in charge of the German national team since 2023, and has a contract until Euro 2028. A quarter-final defeat to Spain in the European Championship on home soil was disappointing, but not enough to make Nagelsmann weigh too lightly. When Germany in the World Cup two years later goes directly from a loss in the last group game against Ecuador to a loss to Paraguay in the round of 16, then Nagelsmann is done.

Klopp, who works as a pundit on German TV during the World Cup, was asked right after the game what it takes before he will consider the job of national coach.
“I have a job, I really enjoy it. As far as I know, it is not a part-time job. The fact is that Germany was knocked out today, and this is not the moment where I should think about my own future. As a coach, I have often been in the situation myself, where a big dream has been shattered. I understand that when people talk about the national team coach, my name is mentioned, but it’s not the right time to talk about it – especially not myself,” Klopp replied according to Bild.

We guess there is already work behind the scenes for a procedure that gives Die Mannschaft Jürgen Klopp as the new national team coach. We think Mester Klopp can’t turn down the offer that has to come. Germany’s football glory requires a Klopp at the helm.
