Morgan Rogers to Arsenal takes a new turn – Aston Villa demand record sum
Arsenal have been told that they will have to fork out a staggering sum to sign Morgan Rogers this summer. Aston Villa are demanding £130 million – which would shatter the British transfer record.
The Gunners are desperate to bolster their squad, especially in the attacking line, where they have struggled several times to break down opponents. Rogers is one of the main targets – but Villa won’t let him go cheaply.
According to The Telegraph, Aston Villa have put a price tag of £130 million on the playmaker. That would surpass Alexander Isak’s move from Newcastle to Liverpool (£125m) and Elliot Anderson’s move to Manchester City (£116m).
Villa see Rogers as more valuable than English teammates
The report claims that Villa consider Rogers to be more valuable than their England teammates – and the club are reluctant to let a sale go through.
Another problem for the Midlands club is the 20 percent sell-out clause to Middlesbrough. They themselves paid £15 million for Rogers in 2024, and a large part of the profits will go back to Boro.
Arsenal’s position on the sum is unclear – but Chelsea are also interested. Rogers has been described as a “superstar” and a transfer would set a new standard for the summer window.
If Arsenal pay £130 million, they will break their own club record. Only Declan Rice has previously surpassed £100 million for the Gunners.
Top ten most expensive Arsenal signings:
- Declan Rice – £105 million
- Nicolas Pépé – £72 million
- Eberechi Eze – £67.5 million
- Kai Havertz – £65 million
- Viktor Gyökeres – £64.2 million
- Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – £56 million
- Martin Zubimendi – £55.8 million
- Gabriel Jesus – £55 million
- Noni Madueke – £52 million
- Ben White – £50 million
Breaking the record for Rogers would put immediate pressure on him – and it remains to be seen whether Arsenal are willing to pay the price.
Definitely! PSG take over Liverpool’s top signing
