For Lionel Messi, Emiliano Martinez is and will remain the world’s best goalkeeper. The Aston Villa goalkeeper was just as important to Argentina as Messi, when the World Cup trophy was lifted in 2022. Before last season, Martinez wanted to go to Manchester United, but the Red Devils ended up with Senne Lammens. This summer, Martinez has continued to work to exit Aston Villa for the next step in his career, Sunday came the confirmation.
It was Chelsea for the 33-year-old with 256 appearances for Villa and the Europa League title.

Martinez has signed a deal until the summer of 2028, where he will compete with Mike Penders and Robert Sanchez for playing time.
“I’m incredibly happy to have come to this football club. For me and my family, it was an easy decision to move to Chelsea, and I’m just excited. I can’t wait to get started,” the goalkeeper begins to Chelsea’s website.

Now it’s all about Martinez delivering from day one.
“I want to succeed here. I’m the kind of person who wants to win everything I do, and I want to bring that to this football club. Chelsea is a club that wins titles, so I think it’s a good match,” concludes Messi’s favourite goalkeeper.
