However, Jarrad Branthwaite meets a number of requirements for the Reds, and according to Football-Insider’s sources , the Reds are closely monitoring his situation in case he becomes available in 2027.
Former chief scout for Man United, Mick Brown, gives a description of the situation.
“Liverpool are looking at left-sided centre-backs who can come in and replace Van Dijk,” Brown told Football Insider.
“Liverpool have put Jarrad Branthwaite on their radar. He’s someone they’re big admirers of, although it might be a bit difficult for them to make a deal with Everton. They’ve been following him closely. He plays in the same city, so it’s easy to just send a scout over to watch his games, so they’re working on doing their due diligence,” Brown told Football-Insider.

“Liverpool already know everything about him. It’s the work that’s going on in the background. You find out about his character, his background and how he’s in training. It seems like Branthwaite meets a lot of requirements and when you talk about replacements for Van Dijk, he’s someone who’s going to be very high on that list. As I said, it might not be easy for them to make a deal with Everton, but if they get hints that he might be available, I expect them to try and make a signing.”
