Tottenham’s star centre-back Mickey Van de Ven signed a new contract with Tottenham in August, running until 2031. The Dutchman was convinced that the Roberto de Zerbi project would lift Tottenham out of the relegation mud and up to a ticket to play in Europe again. Five Premier League games into the season, Tottenham are rock bottom in the table, two of the league’s biggest clubs getting ready for the opportunity that may come.

Van de Ven is not going to give up on Tottenham this winter, but the summer transfer window could offer an exit opportunity, if the Spurs ship continues to sink.
