Liverpool have signed French talent Djylian N’Guessan from Saint-Etienne. The transfer will be official in January – and the 18-year-old will immediately be loaned to Brest in Ligue 1.

The 18-year-old Frenchman will formally join the club in January, but will spend the 2026/27 season on loan at Ligue 1 club Brest.
Already experience from senior football
Despite his young age, N’Guessan has already made 13 senior appearances for Saint-Etienne, who currently lead Ligue 2. Now, a new chapter in his career awaits – first on loan at Brest, before he is scheduled to return to Merseyside.
Brest travel to Le Havre on Saturday, but N’Guessan could get a far more high-profile debut as early as next week. Then the “Pirates” will be visited by Paris Saint-Germain themselves at the Stade Francis-Le Blé next Sunday.
Great success on age-specific national teams
N’Guessan has already made a solid mark on age-specific national teams for France. At the U20 World Cup last year, he made seven appearances, and in the U17 European Championship in 2025, he scored four goals – enough for a place in the tournament’s team. France did lose the final to Portugal, but N’Guessan’s name was already on everyone’s lips.
Now Liverpool hope that the young winger will become a new French jewel at the club – but first he has to prove himself at Brest, where a meeting with PSG could be his big break at the top level.
