According to Cadena SER and Onda Cero, the Spanish Football Federation and De la Fuente have entered into an agreement in principle for a new contract that will last until after the World Cup in 2030. The agreement includes a substantial salary increase, making the successful coach one of the five highest-paid national team coaches in the world. De la Fuente will be raised in the salary hierarchy with an increase from his 2 million euro annual salary.

In the World Cup, Carlo Ancelotti was the highest paid with 10 million euros in annual salary, followed by Nagelsmann with 7 million euros, Pochettino with 6 million euros, Tuchel with about the same, then Roberto Martinez with 4 million euros.
It is expected that the new contract will be announced in connection with the upcoming Nations League meeting. Here, Spain will face England away, Croatia at home, Czech Republic at home and Croatia away.
