Pierre Sage has had a slow start to the Premier League season. The French coach led Lens to an impressive second place in Ligue 1 last season. Crystal Palace saw the Frenchman as the right person to replace Oliver Glasner after the German’s success with titles in the FA Cup, Community Shield and Conference League. Four Premier League games into the season, Jørgen Strand Larsen’s new coach has collected 3 poor points, but at Lens the situation is even tougher for the coach.

Former Eintracht Frankfurt coach Dino Toppmöller was brought in at the Ligue 1 club to replace Sage, six games into the season it is reported that the German is already weighed too lightly.

According to L’Equipe , Toppmöller Lens will not lead on Friday against Monaco, it is expected that Yannick Cahuzac will take over the coaching position temporarily.

So what happened?

The 45-year-old has since the summer three wins in six games, but with only 1 win and 1 draw and 2 losses in Ligue 1, the club management has clearly panicked. This season the expectations were to take the Ligue 1 title, Toppmöller clearly does not have confidence that he can take care of the success of Pierre Sage.
