Now Alex Scott from Bournemouth could be the solution.
The Red Devils have looked at Elliot Anderson and Fernandes as top candidates to strengthen their midfield. However, Anderson has agreed a £116m deal with Manchester City, while Tottenham have agreed £85m with West Ham for Fernandes.
Thus, Manchester United will have to look for other options.

Alex Scott can be brought in for £80 million
According to GIVEMESPORT senior Ben Jacobs, United are now considering a move for Bournemouth’s Alex Scott. The 22-year-old had a brilliant season in 2025/26 and has been described as “incredible”.
Bournemouth want to keep him, but with a contract until 2028, the price tag is around £80 million if they are to sell this summer.
Manchester United were not willing to match £85 million for Fernandes, and it is unclear whether they will go as high as £80 million for Scott. In addition, the competition is fierce – Arsenal, Tottenham, Chelsea and Liverpool are all linked with him.
United already have a deal with Atalanta star Ederson, which is expected to be formalized after the World Cup. At least two more midfielders have been targeted after Manuel Ugarte’s serious knee injury.
Scott could be perfect for Manchester United
United are desperate for a versatile midfielder who can complement Kobbie Mainoo – and Scott is among the best available.
His contract situation gives United the opportunity to negotiate, and Scott seems ready to step up. It won’t be an easy deal, and nothing is advanced – but Scott is high on the list of alternatives to Fernandes.
