It could actually happen that Mauro Icardi announces a move to the Premier League and Tottenham, much motivated to reunite with manager Roberto de Zerbi and then see a completely different manager in place.
Tottenham are really out of the running after buying players this summer for almost €400 million. – In four games, the London club are only two points down in 17th place. If they lose tomorrow at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium against Aston Villa, they will end up below the red line. If that happens, De Zerbi’s job really hangs in the balance.
Andoni Iraola has convinced sceptical Liverpool legend
Mauro Icardi, who almost landed back in Serie A, is still wandering around without a club. – Now a new track has emerged for the Argentine striker.
The situation of the Argentine striker, born in 1993, is still a hot topic. He is still clubless after a four-year adventure at Galatasaray came to an end.
The former Inter Milan and Paris Saint-Germain striker is looking for his last big adventure to end his career. In recent weeks, there has also been talk of a possible return to Serie A.
According to Cronache di Spogliatoio, Roberto De Zerbi’s Tottenham are considering signing Icardi.
It would be a free reinforcement for a team that has shown obvious weaknesses at the start of the season. Spurs have admittedly had a very problematic start to the season, with one obvious problem: the goals.
The first Carabao Cup win at the end of August against Charlton (5-1) gave the illusion that the problems had already been solved. That has not been the case. Yesterday, Tuesday 15 September, they were knocked out of the same League Cup by Liverpool (3-1). But what matters most are the zero goals De Zerbi’s team has scored in the first four rounds of the Premier League: losses to Brentford (3-0) and Newcastle (0-2), and draws to Nottingham Forest and Everton (both 0-0).
The difficulties also have to do with the squad situation. As a pure striker, Tottenham can only field Dominic Solanke, while Omar Marmoush is adapted as an option. In addition, there is the situation surrounding Richarlison (out of the squad).
Spurs were looking for further reinforcements right up until the transfer window closed, and can now turn to the clubless player market – where the name Icardi appears.
ICARDI AND LAZIO
The Rosario man is ready to get back on the pitch, and in recent weeks, a possible move to Lazio has dominated the picture.
After the summer’s courtesy, the Light Blues switched to other solutions. Then Icardi himself contacted again after the transfer window closed.
In the last few hours, however, the saga has come to a halt – for two fundamental reasons, according to Il Messaggero. The first is about the club’s finances, which are struggling in particular with the squad cost ratio (the index of how a team’s costs affect the club’s financial statements), which is crucial for league license and freedom of action in the market. In short: Icardi has never really been offered a contract and a salary anywhere near his demands, despite the efforts the club has put in. They neither wanted nor could go any further.
The second tangle concerns Gennaro Gattuso’s position. He has expressed scepticism about the tactical scheme, and – most importantly – at the end of August chose and approved the purchase of Andrea Pinamonti as permanent striker number 9. He has no intention of turning around in the confidence of the former Sassuolo player.
