Manchester United supporters had been injected with hope since last winter. After chaos with Ruben Amorim (although the Portuguese picked up a few wins last season), Michael Carrick not only created internal calm in the squad, the results came immediately – and held all the way to 3rd place in the Premier League. Every move Carrick now makes builds up expectations for the start of the season.
On Wednesday, it was time for the penultimate friendly before Premier League newcomer Hull City comes to Old Trafford to test the level of Carrick’s United. It ended with 1-1 and a penalty shootout. Many Man Utd supporters were excited to see Marcus Rashford back in the United shirt, but they will have to be patient. After the game, it was clear that Carrick has Rashford in his plan for the 2026/27 season.

After the friendly match, Michael Carrick opened up that the striker could be part of his plans this season.
“He’s our player. He has come back very well, like all other players. I’ve known him for a long time, and he gives us something a little different. He has been in a very good mood since he came back. He’s been back for two or three days,” the United manager told ITV.
