Ymer was disqualified after committing an offense on the court. The incident occurred in the 1/8 finals of the ATP 250 tournament in Lyon. The Swede was playing against Arthur Fils when he got into a heated altercation with referee Rogerio Santos. Ymer disagreed with the umpire’s decision to award a point to Fils as he claimed the ball had gone “out”. He even asked the referee to get down from the referee’s chair and see the mark of the ball. Santos stuck to his decision, which enraged Ymer. After losing another trade to Fils, Ymer lost his temper. Ymer considered it scandalous that Santos refused to get down from his chair to check the ball mark, claiming that it was his responsibility to comply with the player’s request. Ymer started hitting the referee’s chair between Santos’ legs. This is illegal behavior on the court that is punishable by immediate disqualification. So it happened. The game was stopped and the tournament head referee informed Ymer of his immediate disqualification and that he had to leave the court.
