Manchester United were very interested in Elliot Anderson, Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali, but all three eventually ended up at City and Tottenham, as the United management decided not to meet the demands for a price. Atlanta’s Ederson is on his way to Old Trafford, but the reinforcement in midfield is far from complete. Now it is reported that some new players are on the candidate list.

According to Teamtalk’s sources , Brighton player Carlos Baleba is still a player they love, with Brighton jacking down their asking price from £100 million to around £80 million. It is still above the level United are comfortable committing to at the moment, and instead of pursuing what could prove to be a dead end, they have instead resumed a number of players valued close to £50 million, it is reported.

Chelsea midfielder Andrey Santos is among them. The sources report United have made new requests for the Brazilian, who is believed to be open to a transfer that will guarantee him more regular first-team football. Despite an impressive season, Santos started just 13 league games in the 2025/26 season and there is no certainty that his situation will improve under Chelsea head coach Xabi Alonso.

Another player who has been discussed internally in recent days is Bournemouth’s Tyler Adams, with United reportedly making requests for the US international during talks that also covered Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott. Sources indicate that Bournemouth would be willing to consider offers in the region of £50m for Adams, should formal interest develop.

Adams’ Premier League experience, leadership skills, and versatility are all viewed favorably by United’s recruitment team.

Borussia Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha is also firmly on Manchester United’s short list. The German international could be available this summer, United are closely following the process.

One player who now seems unlikely to enter the market is Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni. The France international is now expected to stay at the Bernabéu after José Mourinho decided he wanted to build the midfield around him, putting an end to any hopes of a move to the Premier League.
