Novak Djokovic, after a bumpy road to a historic seventh ATP Finals triumph after coming close to being eliminated from the tournament, looks like he could play for many more years. Will this actually be the case? Djokovic revealed when he will consider retiring.
In an era of increasingly visible generational change in tennis, one thing remains unchanged. Novak Djokovic is still on top. However, experts are increasingly asking when Djokovic will hang up his racket, because his biggest rival, Rafael Nadal, will leave next year and he is starting to have bad matches from time to time. Is Novak Djokovic thinking about retirement?
When Rafael Nadal announced that the 2024 season would be his last, Novak Djokovic admitted that he then thought about retiring because Nadal was an integral part of his career. However, he quickly pushed away these thoughts, but returned to them at the press conference after winning the ATP Finals.
– Sinner, Alcaraz and Rune are the next Big Three. As long as I can beat them in big tournaments, I will continue to move forward. Why should I stop when I’m still winning these tournaments? When they start beating me, I will consider retiring- said the Serb.
