Last summer, Liverpool had full control of the transfer market. Although the signing of Alexander Isak came after the start of the season, what ended with a £440 million transfer window was not a sign of panic. In his first interview on the training ground, Andoni Iraola says he hopes the reinforcements will come before the start of the season. So far, 23-year-old Victor Munoz and 21-year-old Jeremy Jacquet are the only ones to have signed with the Reds. The top priority the winger position has been particularly difficult to put in place, now it is reported that four candidates are back on the list.

“As a coach, I would – if I could be a little selfish – prefer to have all the new players in place from day one in the start, so that they can be there throughout the preparations, but we also know that the football world does not work like that. The club is working hard to get the reinforcements they want,” Iraola told Sky Sports.

The Athletic points to Liverpool’s continued top priority to sign a new winger after Salah’s exit, but has had one miss after another. Anthony Gordon, a top target for the Reds, disappeared to Barcelona, while Yan Diomande looks set to sign for PSG or stay at RB Leipzig.
