Even before today’s defeat to Wolverhampton at Molineux Stadium, Britain’s richest Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Manchester United big owner have made themselves very unpopular.
The product Manchester United has deteriorated, while everything has become more expensive. – It’s not worth the money to buy expensive tickets to a game where superstars earn several annual salaries a week don’t bother to give it their all.
It’s actually quite incredible that I’m writing what I’m doing now. Namely, that things were better under Dutch manager Erik ten Hag. – That despite the fact that last season was the worst in Manchester United history, this season will be even worse!.
Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes fought at least but became careless and ended up getting a red card right after the break.
Wolverhampton, who have just sacked their Gary O’Neil and brought in Vítor Pereira from the dunes of Saudi Arabia, were determined to climb the red line in the Premier League. Bruno Fernandes’ red card changed the game completely, from being an even game to Wolverhampton in the lead.
Woverhampton 2 – Manchester United 0
Sir Alex Ferguson is too old, so now only Ole Gunnar Solskjaer left with Manchester United DNA can do something quickly!
Manchester United are now down to 14th place after 18 rounds.
The visitors started with Rasmus Højlund in attack, but during the first half he did not exactly show his qualities in front of goal. Ruben Amorim’s troops didn’t get to the big opportunities in front of goal, and instead it was Wolves with Jørgen Strand Larsen in attack who came close to scoring the opening goal.
More interesting for the Manchester club was that Bruno Fernandes received a yellow card, which would later prove to be decisive. It was 0-0 at halftime, but the game was turned upside down a few minutes into the second half.
Fernandes received another yellow card and he was sent to the shower. Soon after, Wolves scored, but the goal was immediately disallowed.
Just under an hour into the game, Wolves again sent the ball into the box, and this time it stayed. Matheus Cunha chose to test André Onana directly from a corner, and the United goalkeeper was unaware of why the ball hit the box.
At the end of the game, when Christian Eriksen was substituted, the visitors eventually found themselves further up the pitch, but they struggled against Wolves’ 11 men, who were good in defence.
Instead, it was Hwang Hee-chan who executed after a quick Wolves conversion to make it 2-0 with the entire United team in front of the pitch.
It is Vitor Pereira’s first home win as manager of the club just north of Birmingham. The new boss also won his first game as head coach. Wolves are above the relegation line with the win.
It’s time to bring in Ole Gunnar Solskjær, who has delivered a 2nd place and a 3rd place!
Time to call Ole Gunnar Solkjær who got very good results even though he had the Manchester United board against him:
Some examples: In the summer of 2020, he wanted Grealish, Bellingham, Sancho and Upamecano. Instead, he got Donny, then a bunch of players like Cavani and Pellistri on deadline day.
In January 2021, he asked for Moises Caicedo (£4.5 million), but the board said no.
In January 2020, he was desperate to sign Haaland. Back in December 2019, it looked like a done deal, with Ole smiling at press conferences when talking about Haaland. Instead, Manchester United got Ighalo on loan, reportedly due to agent fees.
Other names Ole pushed for include Ake (summer 2020), Harry Kane (summer 20/21) and Declan Rice (summer 2021).
However, in a recent interview, Ole admitted that he wanted these players, but was told that Manchester United did not have the budget for Rice/Kane.
Ole also wanted De Ligt, but instead got Maguire (but he was happy with that replacement) and pushed for the signing of Jovetic, who ended up at City.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer delivered a 2nd and 3rd place in the Premier League, while this year’s version is down to 14th place with only 22 points after 18 games. Solskjaer understood the player profile like no other Manchester United manager since Sir Alex and was passionate about how he could help them do better.
Here are a few examples of smart choices with the players he had:
- Bruno Fernandes at CAM (almost SS)
- Move Martial to false 9
- Putting Rashford back to LW
- Playing Pogba as a fake LW (making it a box midfield, which is popular in football these days)
– Playing Lukaku on RW (split wide) in big games
This was one of Ole’s greatest strengths as a football manager and one of the reasons why Manchester United played their best and most consistent football since Sir Alex under Ole.
Most of all, Ole is so loyal that even an assistant role brought him back to Old Trafford.
