Fulham supporters have been waiting for the Oscar Bobb effect. The Norwegian international was brought in from City after a long injury break, needed time to play his way back into match shape – and finished the season’s 14 Premier League games for Fulham without scoring or assists. On Tuesday night, Bobb showed the supporters he is a match-winner.

Bobb got 21 minutes on the pitch, enough to send West Ham out of the League Cup. It was a terrific first half with 2-2 at half-time, only after Bobb came on the pitch did Fulham manage to play their way to the decisive finish for a 3-2 victory.

“Bobb twisted elegantly along the right side, connecting with King to steer the ball over the sixteen-yard line. Marvopanos was on point and stopped Garcia’s touch from leading to a shot. The pressure increased, possession won territory, attacks generated territory, attacks produced set pieces, and the ball got stuck in West Ham’s final third. Castagne found a right-sided Palacios in the overlap, the cutback was intercepted by Kante, but King’s quick press won the ball back, and from there Bobb activated himself, danced into the sixteen-yard box with a series of skillful touches, cut across to his left foot to set up the angle and sent the ball towards Herrick, who was unable to adjust his position quickly enough to block the shot towards goal.”
