Manchester United are looking for a new striker this summer – and now sources report that “one of the world’s best strikers” has made it clear that he wants to join the Premier League.
United’s main focus in the summer transfer window has been to revamp their midfield following Casemiro’s departure and Manuel Ugarte’s serious injury during the 2026 World Cup. With no more signings, Kobbie Mainoo was left as one of the few specialised central midfielders in the squad ahead of the new season – although Mason Mount and captain Bruno Fernandes could also play there if needed.

The Red Devils have signed Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans for a combined £85 million, but the hunt for a more specialised ‘six’ continues. Names such as Aurélien Tchouaméni, Manu Koné and Carlos Baleba are mentioned.
However, that doesn’t mean the club is ignoring strengthening other positions – especially considering they will be playing in the Champions League for the first time since the 2023/24 season. The striker position is one of the areas being considered, especially with Joshua Zirkzee’s uncertain future at Old Trafford.
Osimhen wants to go to the Premier League
According to TEAMtalk, Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen still has a burning desire to play in the Premier League – after he has so far failed to land his dream transfer to England.
Sources close to the United-linked Nigerian reveal that the 27-year-old is very determined to test himself at the very highest level, after an outstanding spell at the Turkish giants.
Osimhen, who is referred to by national team colleague Peter Etebo as “one of the world’s best strikers”, has previously been in negotiations with Chelsea – but the transfer collapsed due to disagreements over wages.
Despite settling in in Istanbul with 59 goals in 74 appearances for Galatasaray, his long-term preference is still to play in England. His representatives are constantly exploring options for his next career move.

Osimhen – United’s dream striker
CaughtOffside reported earlier this summer that Osimhen is United’s “dream target” in the striker position – an experienced attacker who can relieve and develop Benjamin Šeško both in games and on the training ground at Carrington.
United see the Nigerian as a “transformative” signing – a player who will not only create huge competition for the Slovenian, but also help him develop by playing alongside him.
Any transfer will likely depend on United’s remaining transfer budget this summer. According to reports, Galatasaray will require at least €100 million to release their star. The salary could also be a challenge – Osimhen is the highest-paid player at the Turkish club, and United want to move away from insane salary levels.
