Before Friday’s Ligue 1 clash between Paris Saint-Germain and AS Monaco, the faithful at the Parc des Princes got to greet the club’s new faces.

“I feel the same as our fans. We tried to control the game against a strong Monaco team, but they started with a strong ability to beat our pressure. The first rounds of the game were tough, but all in all, I think we obviously deserved to win. We would have been unlucky if we had drawn, but still we lost. It’s inexplicable, but that’s football. You just have to accept it. Unfortunately, there have been games like this in the last three years. I’m happy with the players, even though we have to improve both individually and collectively, and that includes me, the manager, because we’re struggling in the table.
“We are part of an exciting project; this is the first time I start a fourth season as manager of the same team. My motivation is even stronger than it was in the first days here. Tonight, as well as reuniting with their heroes, the home crowd had the chance to welcome the fresh reinforcements to the Rouge et Bleu squad. In a festive setting – the team’s first home game of the season – the five new players who have joined the capital club’s men’s team during the summer transfer window were introduced to Paris fans.
Akliouche starts against his old club
In a sign of how quickly he has integrated since his move from Monaco last month, Maghnes Akliouche was named in Luis Enrique’s starting eleven for the clash against his old club.
Ferran Torres, who joined from Barcelona, has already made his mark on the team. With two goals on the opening day last weekend, he secured Les Parisiens a valuable 2-2 draw away to Stade Rennais – and proved that he is ready to take responsibility.

Digne back – and young talents in place
Lucas Digne has also returned to the capital. The French international, who helped win World Cup bronze in 2026, has previously played for the club between 2013 and 2016. Now he is back to contribute with experience and class.
In addition, 18-year-old Italian goalkeeper Alessandro Longoni has arrived from AC Milan – a young talent with a future ahead of him.
And then there’s Mika Godts. After a brilliant season at Ajax Amsterdam with 17 goals and 15 assists in the 2025/26 season, he has made the move to Paris. Already in his first appearances, he has shown what he can do – and that bodes well for the time to come.
