Since arriving at the Etihad in 2016, Guardiola has led City to 16 major trophies, including six Premier League titles and one Champions League triumph.
Guardiola has already added the League Cup to his collection earlier this year, and he has the opportunity to win the FA Cup for the third time when his team face Chelsea at Wembley on Saturday afternoon – in what will be Guardiola’s 24th visit to the national stadium.
Has Guardiola’s time at Wembley come to an end?
Before the game, there have been suggestions that this could actually be Guardiola’s last game at Wembley, as his future is uncertain after this season.
During a press conference just hours before the main event, the Spaniard hinted that he has actually won 19 titles in ten years, not 16, and pointed to the three Community Shield victories during his time at City – before speaking openly about the future.
“Yes, 19 titles in ten years is not bad,” he said.
“They don’t have to wait until I leave – they know I’ve been funny. I’ve been funny. So 19 titles, and chasing the 20th in ten years – that’s not bad, honestly.
“I have one year left on my contract”
When asked if the FA Cup final – potentially his last game as City manager at Wembley – gave him a hint of sadness, Guardiola replied:
“Not to mention. Not to mention. I have one year left on my contract.
“I’m so disappointed that they haven’t made a separate Pep deal at Wembley – considering how many times I’ve been there. At least a lounge or a box. Maybe I’ll visit Wembley 24 more times.
“It’s been a special place for me – with Barcelona in 1992, and then against Manchester United with Barcelona for the second time in 2011, and many times since I’ve been here with semi-finals and finals. It’s really good to go to Wembley again. Top.
Can make history with another FA Cup win
If Guardiola wins the FA Cup, he will become only the fifth manager to lift the trophy four times – after John Nicholson, Sir Alex Ferguson, George Ramsay and Arsène Wenger.
Guardiola’s current contract expires in the summer of 2027.
