Brentford, with Thomas Frank at the helm, saw it in 2024. Teenager Antonio Nusa had a rare potential on the wing. Two years later, the entire football world is aware of the same thing. At Brentford, grimaces are being grimaced at the opportunity they threw away in January 2024.
Brentford have shown an extreme flair for bringing in the right players “under the radar” at the biggest clubs, developing the attacking talents with plenty of playing time – getting back in scoring – and then allowing themselves to be pushed into sale to the giants who pay very, very well for the signature. Everything was in place for Antoniio Nusa’s €30 million transfer from Club Brugge, but was halted due to uncertainty after the medical test. There was no transfer, Nusa later went to RB Leipzig for up to 28 million euros. Guess who regrets it today!

NRK expert Kristoffer Løkberg said it already in November 2024, after the 5-0 win against Kazakhstan with Nusa scoring and a delicious assist:
“One thing is how much he has risen in value and what they could have sold him for. Another thing is what he could contribute in the Premier League. He is not inferior to any of the players Brentford have. They will never admit it, but they regret it so much that they get sick thinking about it.
This was in 2024. We can only imagine what the Brentford management thinks when they see Nusa on the biggest stages in 2025 and 2026, and look back on having the Norwegian international star halfway through the door to the club!

Now Antonio Nusa is out of reach for Brentford, we guess the biggest clubs in the Premier League will make sure of that, with a push after the World Cup final (where Nusa plays…).
