Bournemouth have no plans to sell star midfielder Alex Scott this summer.

Scott has attracted interest from several of the Premier League’s biggest clubs, and Arsenal have already had a bid rejected for him.

The 22-year-old was named the Bournemouth supporters’ player of the year for the 2025/26 season, where he was a key player as the team secured European qualification under Andoni Iraola. Iraola’s departure to Liverpool may have triggered a summer escape, but Bournemouth insist Scott is not for sale – and is instead working to offer him a new contract.

The player was offered an extension earlier this year, but the club is under no pressure to secure his signature immediately. He still has two years left on his current deal at the Vitality Stadium, and Bournemouth are happy to keep him regardless of whether he extends this summer or not.

Equipped for bids

Bournemouth’s stance will come as a blow to interested clubs. talkSPORT understands that Arsenal’s sporting director Andrea Berta contacted Scott but was told that Bournemouth do not want to sell.

Manchester United are expected to explore a transfer for the England international in their quest to strengthen their midfield. Scott is also being appreciated by Manchester City and Chelsea – and interested parties are expected to test Bournemouth’s resolve over the next few days.

Chelsea could step up their interest after suffering a setback in their pursuit of Granit Xhaka. The club had an opening bid of £8 million rejected for the Sunderland star, who is now expected to remain at the Stadium of Light.

Manchester City have already completed the signing of Elliot Anderson for a staggering £116 million – a British transfer record.

Prism

Bournemouth are said to value Scott at around £80 million, and it remains to be seen how they would respond to such a bid.

The south coast club is preparing for its first-ever European campaign, after securing Europa League qualification last season. Scott played a crucial role with 37 appearances and three goals in the Premier League.

The impressive season culminated with him being invited to England’s pre-World Cup training camp in Florida. Although he did not make his debut for the national team in the friendlies against New Zealand and Costa Rica, he has clearly secured that goal in the long run.

The question is whether that will happen as a Bournemouth player – with so many big clubs lurking.

The former Bristol City player now has 89 appearances for the Cherries since arriving three years ago in a deal worth approximately £25 million.

Scott, who was born in the Channel Islands and has represented both Southampton and Bournemouth at youth level, received his first national team call-up for the World Cup qualifiers against Serbia and Albania in November – but has yet to make his debut.
