Xabi Alonso is in place. The Premier League has got a new attraction. The football in the first half hour Chelsea delivered in front of the home supporters at Stamford Bridge bodes very well.
Okay, it was an unnecessary opportunity for Brighton to pick up the home side after a 3-0 lead, but 32 minutes of magical Alonso attacking football à la Bayer Leverkusen in the title season and three goals, was simply fantastic.

It ended with a 4-3 victory, completely unnecessary of Chelsea to let there be any tension in the game, but for us the first half hour (and the fact that it was a win) was what we needed to see from Xabi Alonso’s Chelsea.
Last season, Chelsea struggled with several of the best attacking players in the Premier League to score goals. With three goals away to Fulham and four against Brighton, the Blues now stand with 7 goals in two games – and six points on the table account. Awesome!
