Roberto De Zerbi has already made his mark on Tottenham since taking over as manager – and now the Italian is ready to make changes to the squad. It will be bought this summer, more than ever before, which means that many people have to go.

After saving Spurs from relegation at the end of last season, he has already brought in Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi, Martin Dúbravka, Jan Paul van Hecke and Mateus Fernandes – and a £100m deal for Sandro Tonali is also in the works.

The north London club is now looking at possible departures. Luka Vusković is on his way to Brighton for £50 million, but now the manager has made a clear decision about the future of one of the club’s most promising youngsters.

De Zerbi: Moore won’t get the chance

Tottenham are looking for reinforcements in attack, with Manchester City star Savinho as the main target – and ongoing talks suggest that the player himself is interested.

But despite the club having several options in the attacking line, and some long-term injuries, they have also been looking forward to welcoming young winger Mikey Moore back from a successful loan spell at Rangers.

However, it now appears that Moore – who has been described as a “special” talent – will not be part of the first team next season. De Zerbi has told him that there is no room for him this year and that he will instead be loaned out again.

The Rangers want him back

Rangers are very keen to re-secure the winger, and the interest also extends to clubs in the Bundesliga and Eredivisie.

Tottenham have no interest in selling Moore permanently this summer – unlike Vusković – but they are open to another loan to ensure further development.

It remains to be seen whether Rangers will re-enter after their managerial change, but Moore has already publicly stated that he is open to a return to Ibrox if a deal can be struck.

Can Tottenham block his path?

When you have a talent as big as Mikey Moore, it’s the club’s responsibility to give him regular first-team playing time.

Spurs find themselves in a difficult position. Two straight 17th-place finishes mean De Zerbi has to win now – and he can’t afford to take chances with the squad.

At the same time, Tottenham cannot block Moore’s long-term path to the first team in the same way they did with Vusković. If they do, they risk losing one of their best young talents in many years.
