The player holds a long meeting with the club’s reference shareholders to put in place the terms for his investment group to buy Sevilla.

Things move quickly when it comes to Sevilla’s future. On the same Monday that it was officially announced that Monchi is leaving for Espanyol and will not return to Nervión this summer, a meeting will take place between Sergio Ramos and key reference shareholders at the club – including former president José Castro and the Carrión family. This is a meeting where the sale of the club will in practice be concluded.

Sevilla are far from their goal of being a top club in La Liga, with a few weeks to go they are in 13th place. The next game is on Wednesday away at the Estadio de la Cerámica against Villarreal.

There are rumours that another investor group is in the picture. It is said to be the same American constellation that tried, but did not get to buy Chelsea when Todd Boehly and BlueCo bid the highest.

Ramos is trying to speed up the purchase of Sevilla

The sale – or non-sale – of Sevilla was supposed to take place at the end of May, but everything has now taken off. As AS has learned, the parties largely agree on the price, whether the team stays in the Primera División or is relegated (with a corresponding price drop). What remains uncertain is the liquidity of the Five Eleven Capital group, which Ramos represents. This is precisely what Cameroonia is now trying to guarantee during these meetings.

The meeting has been going on since early Monday morning and is expected to last well into the night. The day started with the news about Monchi – but it could end with Sergio Ramos landing the purchase of Sevilla.

Sergio Ramos’ court takes positions in Nervión

The road so far for Sergio Ramos:

Sergio Ramos left Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2023 after two seasons in the French capital. He then returned to Sevilla – the club he originally left as a young player for Real Madrid in 2005. Back at Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán, he quickly became a leading figure both on and off the pitch. During 2024, rumours began to swirl that Ramos not only wanted to end his career at Sevilla, but that he also wanted to enter the club’s ownership. Together with the investment group Five Eleven Capital, he has since negotiated with the club’s board of directors and shareholders. Now, in May 2026, it looks like a takeover could become a reality – sooner than anyone had expected.
