Manchester United face Paris Saint-Germain in Gothenburg on Saturday afternoon. Youri Tielemans could make his debut for United, while PSG will come to Sweden without several of their biggest profiles.
Manchester United will face the reigning European champions at Nya Ullevi in Gothenburg at 17:00, in what will be an interesting test before the start of the season.
Michael Carrick has brought 22 players to Sweden, and among them we find Youri Tielemans. The Belgian could thus get his first minutes as a Manchester United player. Bruno Fernandes, Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui are also back after the World Cup.
One who is not included is JJ Gabriel. The 15-year-old made his first-team debut against Atlético Madrid, but has not travelled with the squad to Gothenburg.
PSG need more stars
Luis Enrique has also chosen to travel without a number of profiles. Ousmane Dembélé, Achraf Hakimi, Désiré Doué, Bradley Barcola, Fabián Ruiz, Lucas Hernández and Warren Zaïre-Emery are not included, but PSG still have players such as Vitinha, João Neves, Nuno Mendes, Marquinhos and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia available.
The French are coming off a 0-3 defeat to Mallorca in their first friendly this summer.
Has dominated English teams
PSG have been very strong against Premier League opposition in recent seasons. Since January 2025, the club has faced English teams 16 times. The answer is 10 wins, three draws and only three losses.
Manchester United and PSG have previously met four times in the Champions League. Both clubs stand with two victories each. They also met in a friendly in Chicago in 2015, when PSG won 2–0.
PSG build on
There has also been activity on the transfer market. PSG have signed Maghnes Akliouche from Monaco, while Italian goalkeeper talent Alessandro Longoni has been brought in from AC Milan. At the same time, Gonçalo Ramos has gone to AC Milan, while Kang-In Lee has left the club for Atlético Madrid.
Now Manchester United awaits – and perhaps the first taste of what Youri Tielemans can bring to Carrick’s new United team.
