Over the past month, reports have emerged from the English media that not everyone at Liverpool believes Florian Wirtz will live up to expectations, as £116 million was raised in the summer of 2025. It is also claimed that Bayern Munich have maintained their long-term interest in signing the former Leverkusen star. Former Bayern boss and now advisor to the club, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, scoffs at the rumours.
Rummenigge says nothing about Bayern’s possible long-term interest in Wirtz, but has a clear answer to the rumor that Bayern are planning a Wirtz move in January.

“You can’t forget that Jamal Musiala and Serge Gnabry play in that position, and there are other options like Ismael Saibari. There’s no reason to buy a fourth player for the amount Wirtz is probably going to cost,” Rummenigge said.
