Alexander Sørloth has been the match-winning striker Atletico Madrid have needed in 2026, but is still only given up to 30 minutes of playing time by Diego Simeone. In Barcelona, the Norwegian international has been added to the wish list as a possible Lewandewski replacement. It says a lot about Sørloth’s capacity and reputation when the striker who was compared to Haaland in 2022 is far behind Sørloth on the list of candidates at the La Liga giant.
Dusan Vlahovic and Erling Haaland made the big transfer in 2022. The Serbian striker chose Juventus, the Norwegian light bulb went to Manchester City. The two strikers were frequently compared in the international media, but this comparison quickly disappeared. Haaland scored his way into the world’s best/second-best striker, while Vlahovic has had a tough journey at Juventus with 65 goals in 165 games. Haaland famously scored 52 goals in his first season in the City shirt, now “our man” is up to 160 goals in 195 games.

Vlahovic has been linked with Barcelona on and off throughout the season. According to Corriere dello Sport , Barca director Deco met with Vlahovic’s agent some time ago, when he was exploring the potential terms of a deal, but it was later decided that Vlahovic was not the type of striker they were looking for. Vlahovic has frozen talks about a new contract with Juventus. His agent has met with the Bianconeri on five occasions, and is willing to reduce his salary, but has yet to come to an agreement with them. Vlahovic’s representatives have also made it clear that he is willing to take on a reduced role to sign for Barcelona, and lower wages.
According to Football-Espana , Barcelona are still not considering signing Vlahovic: “Their focus is to bring in a long-term successor to Lewandowski, and while they have been looking for a number of more impressive number nines, such as Vedat Muriqi and Alexander Sorloth, that is not a priority at the moment”.
