Euro 2020 title. Nations League title in 2023. This was Luis de la Fuente’s entry into the World Cup as Spanish national team coach. Not even Lionel Messi and the reigning world champions Argentina could outsmart the football and coaching of the 65-year-old. Now the Spanish Football Federation is rewarding its already legendary national team coach.
On Monday, the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) confirmed that De la Fuentes has signed a new contract for the next six years.

“He is one of the most successful coaches in the history of the national team. He deserves a long future with us,” says Rafael Louzán, president of the Spanish Football Federation.
The contract extension means that Luis de la Fuente on paper will be in charge of Spain in the Euro finals in 2028 and 2032 as well as the World Cup in 2030, which Spain will host alongside Portugal, Morocco, Paraguay, Uruguay and Argentina.
Congratulations! For the rest of the football world, this means that one of the most successful national team managers continues to build continuity for a Spain that will be almost unstoppable.
