Jack Grealish has lashed out on social media following reports that he has been “left out” of Manchester City’s pre-season tour of Asia. Now the critics are getting answers to the charges.
On Saturday, Manchester City will start their first pre-season under new manager Enzo Maresca with a match against Inter Milan in Hong Kong. It is the first of three matches on an Asian tour that also includes meetings with the K League All Stars and Atlético Madrid in South Korea.

Before the tour, City announced the squad that will travel to Asia. Those who participated in the final rounds of the World Cup were naturally rested. But two names stood out that didn’t make it – despite not playing in the World Cup: Kalvin Phillips and Jack Grealish.
Both have been out with injuries. Grealish has not played since January, when he suffered a serious foot injury during his loan spell at Everton.
Shortly after City’s squad was announced, ESPN UK reported that Grealish and Phillips were “left out” of the tour – triggering a bitter response from Grealish.

Grealish himself took to the comments section to set the record straight:
It is not yet known when Grealish will be fully recovered and ready to return, but he has recently been spotted training at RCD Mallorca’s training facility in Spain – suggesting that he will be back soon.
Uncertain future for Grealish
The question is what happens next for the 30-year-old. Everton chose not to trigger a £50 million option to buy Grealish after his loan spell.
A return to Merseyside could still be on the cards – especially if Iliman Ndiaye leaves for Al Hilal this summer. But Everton will only be willing to make a deal at a greatly reduced price.
At the same time, it is reported that Al Hilal – the same club that is chasing Ndiaye – could also be interested in Grealish. The Saudi club have already signed Crysencio Summerville from West Ham for £60 million, but want to strengthen their attack further.
If Grealish leaves for Al Hilal, he could reunite with former City teammate João Cancelo – although the full-back is expected to return to Barcelona in the coming weeks.
Phillips on his way out – again
Kalvin Phillips, who hasn’t played since February on loan at Sheffield United, is said to be ready for another loan spell at the Blades.
One thing is for sure: Grealish and Phillips are not part of Maresca’s plans right now. And while Grealish struggles to bounce back from injury, the debate rages about his future.
