Renard led the desert nation from a 0-1 to a 2-1 victory, a performance that stood as the biggest surprise in the championship. Now they are aiming for the World Championships in the United States, but Renard’s hero status was suddenly erased.
The president of the Saudi Arabian Football Association has fired the French coach with immediate effect. This happens just 59 days before the start of the World Championships. Hervé Renard is thus done after his second spell as coach of the nation from the Middle East. He was coach from 2019 to 2023, before becoming the national team coach of the French national football team for one year. In the summer of 2024, he returned to Saudi Arabia, but now it is over. reports the French news agency AFP.

Saudi Arabia are in Group H of the World Cup, where they will face Spain, Uruguay and Cape Verde, but without Renard.
