Over the weekend, there were reports from various media that Liverpool had lost the battle for Yan Diomande signing. Renowned journalist David Ornstein of The Athletic claimed the next club will be PSG, with the 19-year-old having the greatest faith in the PSG project. A few hours later, Borussia Dortmund’s sporting director sits down in an interview with Bild. Here he emphasizes that there is only one club that wins, and that is Borussia Dortmund.

-Our clear intention is that Yan Diomande will play for RB Leipzig next season. And we are not changing that. We know what we have in him. If Yan continues his development, the time will of course come when we give him the opportunity to take the next step – but it won’t be this year,” sporting director Marcel Schäfer begins in an interview with Bild.

RB Leipzig refuse to sell jewel Yan Diomande

The statements come in the wake of several international media outlets in the past day linking Diomande strongly to a move to PSG. There have even been reports that the 19-year-old has agreed a contract with the Champions League champions, but that won’t be relevant in this matter, if you ask Marcel Schäfer.

-Basically, we have a permanent contract with him for four years, and we have all the cards in our hands. Therefore, the current development is primarily a recognition of his achievements. Neither more nor less. And if we don’t find a solution, we can’t – but he still has four years left on his contract. So let me repeat: Yan Diomande will stay at Leipzig,” Dortmund’s sporting director grumbled.
