but secures the right to bring him back
Real Madrid continue to build the best possible squad for José Mourinho – and now another piece is in place. Nico Paz has been sold to Como for 60 million euros.
Real Madrid have officially confirmed the transfer of Nico Paz to Como – one of the biggest deals of the summer window. The talented attacking midfielder will leave the Whites to play for the northern Italian side in the 2026/27 season, with a transfer fee of €60 million.

However, Real Madrid have secured an €80 million buy-back clause, which could be activated in the summer of 2027 – and a lifelong right of first refusal if the club chooses not to bring him back.
The player himself wanted the transfer
The transfer was carried out at the request of the 21-year-old himself, who carefully considered his future over the past few weeks. He was fully aware that José Mourinho has a big midfield in Real Madrid – which would severely limit his playing time.
In an emotional statement, he explained that Como gives him the best opportunity to establish himself in Europe – with Champions League football and under the leadership of Cesc Fàbregas, who made him his undisputed key player.
Fàbregas pressed on
The transfer would hardly have become a reality without Fàbregas’ intense drive. The Catalan coach pushed the club management hard to invest a historic sum in Nico Paz. The management of Como had several days of doubts – 60 million euros would weaken the freedom of action in the market.
But Fàbregas’ methodical reports convinced them: Immediate sporting value and a player who can carry the team for years to come.
A win-win-win deal
The transition is a win-win situation for all parties:
- Nico Paz gets regular playing time in the Champions League.
- Como retains its offensive star.
- Real Madrid get a solid injection of money, while retaining control of his future – with the possibility of bringing him back.
