“What felt like a goodbye was really just a reunion.” This is the start of the press release from Fluminense. Silva left the club in 2025, returned to Europe to wear the FC Porto shirt, now it’s over in Portugal – and the choice fell again on the club the 41-year-old already has 186 games for.
Thiago Silva is a real legend in Europe. The Brazilian has been instrumental in Serie A, Ligue 1, Premier League and Champions League. 119 games for AC Milan, 315 games for PSG and 155 games for Chelsea.

41-year-old Thiago Silva returns to Flumiense for fourth round
A smiling Thiago Silva looks like a nice boy, his mother-in-law likes to invite home for dinner. Out on the pitch, the Brazilian is fair, but tough. The opponents of AC Milan, PSG, Chelsea and the Brazilian national team have had a taste of this. When Silva left Chelsea in 2024, many thought the veteran would pat himself on the back and retire. Not Silva, no. He returned to Brazilian giants Fluminense, then returned to Europe in December 2025 on a short-term contract with Porto. Here he made 14 appearances for the super veteran, in a season where Porto went out as league champions, six points ahead of Sporting, eight ahead of Benfica.

Porto chose not to extend with Silva, but the 41-year-old still refuses to give up. On Monday, Fluminense confirmed “their” Silva will return to the club for the fourth time in his career, with a contract until 2026.
Congratulations!
