The German national team has long since returned home from the World Cup, but Bayern Munich still have their Kane, Olise and Upamecano out on international duty. At home in Munich, they are working intensely to get the squad in place before the end of the season, with players who this season will also go all the way to the top of the Champions League.

German Bulinews has made an analysis of what Bayern Munich’s starting eleven for the 2026/27 season could look like in August.

“Bayern Munich have moved quickly in the summer transfer market, bringing in two key players in the form of Eintracht Frankfurt’s Nathaniel Brown and PSV’s Ismael Saibari for around €50 million each. Both players will be in contention to start when the German champions play their first competitive match of the 2026/27 season, against Borussia Dortmund in the DFL Super Cup at Signal Iduna Park on August 22.”

“With more than a month until that game, how are Bayern Munich expected to line up before the new season? In goal, Manuel Neuer remains the undisputed first choice after signing a one-year contract extension, although Jonas Urbig is expected to get more opportunities throughout the season.

“At right-back, Konrad Laimer and Josip Stanisic are competing for the starting spot and the Austrian international currently seems to have a slight advantage. Laimer, who can also operate in midfield, is expected to sign a new contract that extends beyond 2027 in the near future.”

“In central defence, Dayot Upamecano and Jonathan Tah will remain the preferred pairing, while Nathaniel Brown and Alphonso Davies face an exciting battle to start at left-back. The Canadian captain will now try to regain full form before the new season and prove that he is still the preferred option at left-back.”

“Joshua Kimmich and Aleksandar Pavlovic remain the preferred midfield partnership, while Michael Olise, Luis Diaz and Harry Kane are all guaranteed starters.”

“The biggest question mark in attack is the central attacking midfield position, where Bayern have three outstanding options competing for one starting spot: Jamal Musiala, new signing Ismael Saibari and prodigy Lennart Karl.”

“Musiala will benefit from a full pre-season as he continues his return to top form and is currently expected to start the season as first choice. Saibari and Karl are both currently recovering from injuries but will provide strong competition once they are back. The same goes for Serge Gnabry, who is also working his way back to full form after an injury.”
