Anthony Gordon is in principle ready for Barcelona in a move from Newcastle United, and he will automatically become one of the highest-paid players in the squad.
Gordon was expected to leave for Bayern Munich this summer, but the La Liga champions have acted quickly and decisively to secure their man.
Barcelona are paying £69 million for the winger, making him one of the most expensive English footballers ever. His goal record in the Champions League this season has raised his profile considerably.

Gordon is expected to earn €346,000 a week, which equates to around £300,000. That is double what Newcastle paid him.
According to Capology, Frenkie de Jong is the highest-paid player in Barcelona’s squad. De Jong earns €365,385 a week – a handsome sum for an elegant midfielder.
Four other players earn more than Gordon. They are Raphinha, Lamine Yamal, Jules Koundé and the unwanted Marc-André ter Stegen.
Former Newcastle teammate Matt Ritchie always knew Gordon had the qualities needed to make it to the top.
“It’s his work ethic and his attitude,” Ritchie told the BBC.
“He is extremely focused on being the best possible. The collaboration with Eddie Howe and all the coaches at Newcastle couldn’t have been better for him in that respect.
“I know Ant, and he dreams big and thinks big. You can see it in his personality on the pitch. He became a team player, but he still has the edge and the controlled arrogance that all top players possess. I am therefore not surprised that he is now going to a club of Barcelona’s calibre.
