Tottenham management promised Roberto De Zerbi a rebuild of the squad this summer to help the club return to a position in the Premier League that provides tickets to games in Europe. The management has kept what they promised. Six new players have been brought in during a busy summer so far. First Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi, Jan Paul van Hecke and Martin Dubravka, then De Zerbi asked for central midfield reinforcements – and Tottenham responded by flipping up £185m for Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali. Now two new guns are on their way in.
Transfer journalist Romano reports Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo and Manchester City’s Savinho are both key targets for Spurs, and talks are ongoing.

“More moves are expected at Tottenham in the next few days, because don’t forget that they still have two top targets: one is Cody Gakpo, the other is Savinho,” Romano said on his own YouTube channel.
Spurs could end up spending a whopping £137 million to sign Gakpo and Savinho. Liverpool want £70-72 million for Gakpo, while City demand £60-65 million to sell Savinho.

De Zerbi likes Gakpo for his ability to play either as a left winger or a centre-forward. The Dutchman struggled for Liverpool last season, but looked much better at the World Cup, scoring three times. According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Liverpool are open to selling Gakpo if they bring in Bradley Barcola and another winger.

In Savinho’s case, personal terms have already been agreed with Spurs.
