Norway can secure a place in the World Cup semi-finals when they face England in the quarter-finals on Saturday night.

The last time Norway participated in the world’s largest tournament was back in 1998. But Ståle Solbakken’s side have really made their mark on the championship in North America this summer – with Erling Braut Haaland as the big headliner with seven goals in four games.

But the Manchester City striker is not the only one who is causing a stir. National teammate Antonio Nusa is one of several who have excelled for Norway.

The speedy left-winger already has one World Cup goal on his conscience – a beautiful curl that hit the crossbar in the 2-1 win over Ivory Coast in the round of 32.

Nusa’s name is already familiar to many after previous rumours of a Premier League transfer. Now the interest has increased further after impressive World Cup performances.

North London battle for Nusa

According to TEAMtalk , Tottenham are one of several Premier League clubs considering a summer transfer for Nusa. Spurs are looking to strengthen their attack after already strengthening both defence and midfield in the summer window.

Having already impressed for RB Leipzig at club level, interest in the 21-year-old has increased further after he has delivered on the international stage.

Tottenham have long admired the Oslo-born star – and actually tried to sign him as early as January 2024, before the transfer to Brentford foundered.

Arsenal, Newcastle United, Aston Villa and Crystal Palace are also interested. In addition, AC Milan, Napoli, Roma, Atlético Madrid and Barcelona are monitoring the situation.

Haaland’s praises Nusa

Haaland himself is the one who is most often praised – but the goal machine has previously spoken highly of his national team mate.

Nusa made a strong mark in Belgium with Club Brugge and was on his way to the Premier League as early as 2024. Then he was praised by his national team captain:

“He’s fantastic,” said the City striker.

“It’s important to take care of him and not hype him too much – even though he’s a great talent. It is important to leave him alone and give him the opportunity to develop.

Nusa has taken steps forward in the two years since Haaland’s praise. A summer transfer from RB Leipzig could very well become a reality – and the Premier League seems like a likely destination.
