Report: Tottenham want Bremer – and are willing to sell Vicario to Juventus
Romero, who himself has a past at Juventus, is expected to leave Tottenham during the summer. The 28-year-old captain caused great frustration among Spurs supporters when he went to watch a match between Belgrano and River Plate in his native Argentina – at the same time as his teammates were playing the most important Premier League game of the season against Everton. At that time, the club was not yet guaranteed a place in the English top division.
Romero was admittedly injured at the time and had received the club’s permission to return to Argentina for further treatment before the World Cup. Still, the choice was not to the liking of the fans.
Bremer has a buyout clause of EUR 58 million
If Romero leaves this summer, Tuttosport claim that Roberto De Zebri’s Tottenham could strike for Juventus’ Bremer. The Brazilian has a buyout clause of €58 million in his contract – valid between July 1 and August 10.
According to the report from Tuesday, Juventus will demand €58 million, or at least an amount close to that, to release the 29-year-old.
Vicario can be used as a bargaining chip
Tuttosport further reports that Tottenham could try to include goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario in a deal to bring down the price of Bremer.
Juventus are looking for a new goalkeeper to replace the disappointing Michele Di Gregorio. However, recent reports have claimed that Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martínez is the club’s preferred choice between the sticks. For now, Juventus are therefore likely to demand a whopping €58 million for Bremer – without any swap scheme.
