If you hear the name Folarin Balogun, it’s not his 19 goals in 43 games for Monaco that comes to mind. You’re probably thinking World Cup, Trump, Infantino, red card and phone call. The U.S. international was dragged into a massive scandal, where he himself had “only” been guilty of a red card. Tottenham care little about this noise, they should have Balogun for what he delivers in front of the opponents’ goal.
In the World Cup finals, Balogun was one of the great players on the U.S. national team. Here he scored two goals against Paraguay at the start of the tournament and a single goal against Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as a red card in the same match. The red card caused chaos during this summer’s World Cup. Here, Donald Trump was involved in the decision to give the American striker a suspension. Here he “asked” FIFA to look at the situation again, and this resulted in Balogun not having to serve his suspension against Belgium in the round of eight.
