Tottenham Hotspur now have a “very good chance” of signing Manchester City winger Savinho. Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano confirms that Spurs are chasing the Brazilian – and at the same time reveals an alternative.
Tottenham impressed in pre-season when they beat Chelsea 2-1 in the Sydney Super Cup on Saturday, and the six new summer signings are starting to settle in north London.

Manager Roberto De Zerbi has previously indicated that 60 percent of the transfer work has been done – which could mean that there is still room for brand new faces before the window closes on September 1. The Italian has since moderated and says he is hoping for two or three reinforcements – and all indications are that they will be in offensive positions.
Savinho top priority – Neto in the background
Tottenham have been trying to sign Savinho for most of the summer – in fact, they already tried 12 months ago. In 2025, they were unable to convince Manchester City to release the 22-year-old, who Pep Guardiola himself has described as “extraordinary”. But after the Brazilian was given more limited game time last season, Spurs hope that the chance is now there.
Fabrizio Romano gives a clear message on his YouTube channel:
“Priorities one, two and three are Savinho. I think that by the end of the summer, Savinho has a very, very good chance of becoming a Tottenham player. I don’t expect any surprises here. In the unlikely event that the deal does not go through, Pedro Neto from Chelsea could be an option.
Jackson rumors dismissed
On Tuesday morning, the Daily Mail reported that Tottenham were considering signing Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson. The Senegalese is heavily linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge, and Aston Villa are said to be very interested in reuniting him with Unai Emery – but would have to shell out £65m.
Reliable Football London journalist Alasdair Gold quickly dismissed the transfer talks, stressing that Spurs are unlikely to chase the 25-year-old.
Tip addiction and possible sales
While wingers appear to be a priority, any striker signing will depend on either Dominic Solanke or Richarlison leaving the club. Richarlison is considered the most likely to travel.
Tottenham are hoping to complete the Savinho deal as soon as possible, and with Romano’s recent statements, there are many indications that a transfer could be imminent.
