US Open kicks off on August 28, followed by qualifying and fan week next week. This is the fourth and final grand slam of the season. There are 2,000 ranking points and a big cash prize up for grabs. How much is there to win?

The final slam of the year is fast approaching. US Open starts on August 28 and runs until September 10. The week before the qualifiers and the so-called “fan week” start with the participation of some tennis players and stars of other fields. This year’s edition will be unique. Novak Djokovic, who was unable to play last year due to not being vaccinated against COVID-19, returns to the New York tournament. Juan Martin Del Potro will also play here this year, for whom it will be the last tournament in his career. The Argentine wants to end his career where he won his grand slam. The defending champion in the men’s tournament is Carlos Alcaraz. Iga Swiatek will defend last year’s win in the women’s category. What are tennis players fighting for?

US Open authorities have confirmed that this year’s prize money has increased by 8 percent compared to the 2022 US Open. Tennis players are up for grabs this year for the biggest prize money the tournament has offered in 50 years after it established a principle of equal pay for the men’s and women’s parts of the event. 50 years ago, the prize for winning US Open was $25,000 for both men and women. In 2023, the winner of the competition will take home a check worth three million dollars.

Everyone who enters the tournament from the main draw will receive a check for a minimum of $85,000 – or more depending on which round they finish in.
