Vålerenga, which has a slightly less than middle of the tree season in the Eliteserien, has completed a historic sale. – Plenty of money in the account, but also an important player away. – 20-year-old Filip Thorvaldsen will not be present in the away meeting with Aalesund on Sunday. He lands in the Netherlands and FC Twente in a transfer worth around 6 million euros.
“Filip is Vålerenga’s biggest sale of all time, and for the club this is a better deal than the one we rejected last winter,” says sports director of Vålerenga Joachim Jonsson.

The transfer is historic for Vålerenga – and a clear sign that the club has managed to develop a striker who is now in demand by foreign big clubs.
Thorvaldsen recorded ten goals in 67 games for VIF’s first team – numbers that have now opened the door abroad for the 20-year-old.
In Twente, the striker will be teammates with Norwegian compatriots Mathias Kjølø and Sondre Ørjasæter. Thorvaldsen thus becomes part of an ever-growing Norwegian colony in the Dutch club.
For Vålerenga, the sale means a solid injection of money – and proof that the investment in young, developmentally capable players is paying off. For Thorvaldsen, a new chapter in his career now awaits, in one of the Netherlands’ most traditional clubs.
