AC Milan are gearing up for an important renewal to secure the future of one of their biggest stars, Adrien Rabiot – with a salary increase and a long-term contract. The Serie A giants are well aware that they will have to deal with one of the toughest agents in the industry, Véronique Rabiot, and that it will come at a cost.
AC Milan have started the process of extending the contract of Adrien Rabiot, the 31-year-old French midfielder, until June 2030. The player’s current contract runs until 2028, but the club management wants to reward his performance with better wages. The first contacts have already been made, and the goal is to finalize the deal by the end of 2026, according to Corriere dello Sport.
Ángel Torres confirms Sergio Ramos talks
The move comes in response to Rabiot’s significant role in the 2026/27 season, where he has recorded three goals and three assists. Coach Rúben Amorim sees the France international as a key player and has used him in every game so far.
Wants to secure Rabiot’s future
AC Milan are a high priority on keeping Adrien Rabiot and are already working on extending his contract for another two seasons. The goal is to avoid the midfielder going into the final years of his contract without a clear future.
The Frenchman joined San Siro in September 2025 from Olympique de Marseille in a deal worth around 7,4 million euros. He signed until June 30, 2028, with an option for a one-year extension.
His progress has convinced the club management to start negotiations early. Rabiot, whose market value was 18 million euros in the last assessment in May, has become one of Ruben Amorim’s most used players.
In addition, Rabiot can take on different roles in midfield – he contributes to ball recovery, attacking and distribution – allowing the coach to place him in different positions depending on tactical needs. AC Milan want to keep these qualities in the squad and avoid having to look for a replacement in the upcoming transfer windows.
Salary increase to convince
The renewal proposal also includes a salary increase, although the exact amount the Italian club is offering has not yet been made public.
Currently, Rabiot’s contract is estimated at around 9,26 million euros gross annually, based on available salary forecasts. This amount is not to be confused with an officially confirmed amount from the club.
The financial side will be one of the main points in the negotiations. According to Corriere dello Sport, AC Milan’s management has already started preliminary talks with Véronique Rabiot, the player’s mother and representative. Her involvement will be crucial in determining the terms of the new deal. The club’s goal is to offer the player a contract until 2030, when he turns 35 – thus ensuring continuity for a significant part of the coming seasons.
Amorim sees Rabiot as fundamental
The support of Rúben Amorim is another factor behind AC Milan’s decision. The Portuguese coach has made Rabiot one of his regular starters due to his involvement in both build-up play and attacking actions.
His three goals and three assists at the start of the season show a contribution that goes beyond the defensive duties of a midfielder. In addition, his experience at clubs such as PSG, Juventus and Olympique de Marseille allows him to take responsibility within the team.
The contract extension is also part of a larger strategy. Milan have identified Christian Pulisic as another player they want to ensure continuity with, and they have recently made progress in extending Strahinja Pavlovic’s contract.
The next step will be to finalize the financial terms with the Frenchman’s representative. AC Milan aim to reach a final deal by December 31, 2026 – with Adrien Rabiot starting next year with his future tied to the Italian club until 2030.
